Celebration parade for KU men's basketball team

Description: A parade has been set for Sunday afternoon in downtown Lawrence to honor the KU men's basketball team, 2008 NCAA Tournament champions.
The parade will begin at 3 p.m. at Seventh and Massachusetts streets, and head south on Massachusetts Street to South Park.
At 6 p.m. Sunday in Allen Fieldhouse, KU athletics will hold a men's basketball awards ceremony featuring Coach Bill Self and the championship team. That event is free and open to the public. Doors to the fieldhouse will open at 5 p.m.
Shuttle info: A shuttle bus will be available this weekend to take fans from the University of Kansas campus to downtown Lawrence for the parade honoring the men’s basketball team.
The parade is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Seventh and Massachusetts streets. The parade will proceed south on Massachusetts to 19th Street, then turn right on 19th to Naismith Drive.
The shuttle service will run from 1 to 5 p.m. People may park in Lot 94, which is immediately east of Memorial Stadium, or in the Mississippi Street Parking Garage immediately north of the Kansas Union. The shuttle buses will pick up passengers along Mississippi Street at Lot 94 and at the parking garage. Buses will take passengers to the Douglas County Bank parking lot at 300 W. Ninth St. Buses will be staged there after the parade to take people back to Lot 94 and the parking garage.
The shuttle and parking are free. The shuttle is sponsored by Downtown Lawrence Inc., Douglas County Bank, Knoxville Racewear and KU on Wheels.
Lawrence police say alcohol-related laws will be strictly enforced. Paradegoers are asked to stay out of the street to help keep the parade moving.
There will be no bus service for the basketball awards ceremony in Allen Fieldhouse.
