Sound description: For a quintessential Lawrence experience, head on down to Harbour Lights or any of the other Mass. Street venues that Arthur Dodge frequents. The bearded balladeer has been playing monthly gigs at the chatty downtown watering hole, drawing from the hundreds of folk, rock and country tunes he’s penned over the years. Dodge’s latest album “The Perfect Face” gracefully captures his mellow muse, though it barely offers a pinhole glimpse of his boundless songwriting gifts.
RIYL: Paul Westerberg, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan

History:
CMJ says, "Arthur Dodge can rock with a sincerity akin to Neil Young and early Springsteen, pluck through a Wilco-style ballad of hopeless love, and slip in lyrics with a Johnny Cash sense of homespun, humorous despondency." Go and see Arthur and you'll hear a bunch of songs you swear you heard on your Dad's eight-track in 1976. Arthur took his familiar yet distinctive songs to Nashville in 2001, but soon returned to Lawrence. He currently drives a cab and plays in the Lawrence / Kansas City area. He is working on his fourth album.
